David C Rivett Family Funeral Directors specialises in traditional funerals and supports families throughout the Yeovil area. We offer a range of plans and services, to help you and your family say goodbye. Learn about us below and get in touch to arrange a funeral.
Our business
We are a family run and owned business, wholly owned by the 4 members of the family - David, Sandra, James and Christopher Rivett - as stated on the Companies House website.
This is our only financial interest in life.
Due to the intervention of the government's Competition and Markets Authority from 16 September 2021, regrettably we shall no longer be able to give any donations to any organisation/personnel with any connection whatsoever to the funeral industry. Sadly, this will also include local churches and even local hospitals or health charities, as we interpret it as a contravention of the rules. We are, obviously, saddened by this.
As a company with high ethical standards, gratuities offered to any staff cannot be accepted.
Yeovil Crematorium Prices and fees
The current price for a cremation is £807.00. There is an additional charge of £174.00 should you wish for an extended time.
There are a range of additional services available, some provided by outside agencies for the crematorium. A number of these also attract VAT.
Families may have music of their choice, from a very extensive list provided by the Obitus service. Their catalogue contains thousands of songs/music tracks covering every genre.
Obitus can also provide a day downloadable service through to a 28-day service, especially useful for those living abroad or cannot attend due to ill health. Obitus can also provide background photos ( the cost varies depending on the number of photos). A DVD of the service can also be made (filmed facing the altar).
Most of these costs are under £100.00 each depending upon requirement.
Yeovil Crematorium bury ashes loose in their Garden of Remembrance and a plaque may be purchased. This is only done directly with the crematorium. Other seasonal services such as tree planting are available. Again, you would need to apply directly with them to find out current availability.
Payment terms and conditions
At the time of arranging the funeral, every client is given a written estimate of costs. They are also given a copy of our settlement terms which are again included with every account. At the conclusion of arranging the funeral (even if this is done remotely), we invite every client to sign a formal agreement to take personal responsibility for settlement of the funeral costs within our terms and conditions.
Our accounts are sent after the funeral, when time permits, and all costs from outside agencies are available.
The account is duly dated with a request for payment in full within 21 days of the date of invoice. This date can be extended if we receive confirmation from a solicitor, bank or insurance company that they are guaranteeing settlement. Any application to the DWP is not given any extension.
We do not accept debit/credit cards but welcome bank transfers, cheque or cash.
There is no VAT on funeral-only memorials.
We do not organise memorial work, save liaison with a mason of the client's choice to remove a headstone prior to burial.
